Kids everywhere grow up with a selection of vegetables they loathe. When I was young, it was usually peas, broccoli, which the kids so-call "trees," which they do assemble, and the dreaded brussels sprout. Every Christmas, these were pulled out, and every child tried to avoid them. Perhaps because kids managed to avoid these foods when young, the British are generally much fussier about food than people here in Korea. It's to the point that a host should always ask their guests about their food requirements, and provide for them if they have any. Over here, you accept what your host gives you, and you eat it no matter what it tastes like.
